I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now, despite their 
appalling behaviour in the past.

I host a few things on GitHub, but the major advantage of git is that if 
I decide to move them elsewhere it's the work of just a few minutes.

They do seem to have made some useful contributions to git development, 
and one must bear in mind that they're buying GitHub, not git.
