[GLLUG] Ubuntu 24.04 changes to Public

I am trying to share files in ~/Public and am finding something has changed
in file permissions.

   - I am unable to list the ~lesley/Public
   - I am unable to execute files set as +x  with this directory

Something seems to have changed between Ubuntu 18.04 and 24.04.
Any hints
