Hello,

Does anyone have any experience of making bootable linux CDROMs?

I want a CDROM that will boot a kernel then load a compressed ramdisk
image.
I can boot the kernel OK but then I need to specify the location of the
root image (I'm using LILO).

The root image file is contained within the iso9660 filesystem on the
CDROM, so saying something like 'root=3D/dev/hdc' at the LILO prompt =
will
read the first sectors of the CDROM.
I don't know the offset of the root image file on the CD as it's
contained in a filesystem.
Is there a way of telling the kernel to load a ramdisk image from a
filesystem rather than from a device?

Chris West
