I felt a bit sorry for him and he didn't look like he was terribly eager
for a fight. I offered him a first aid kit and we were generally nice to
the bloke. He seemed pretty resigned to waiting for the police.
More disturbingly he had an accomplice who came in looking for him, but=20
walking around a public building isn't exactly a criminal offence and we
couldn't prove anything against the other person.
The computer they (probably) nicked last week was a P4 Windows 2000 box
that kept constantly Blue Screen of Deathing. So bad luck to whoever
gets that out there in Gloucester.

The great thing about when things like these go right is being able to
tell everyone. I will make sure to exagerate the size of the burgler
with each telling.
Not sure I should tell anyone this really but I've been trying to book=20
in for the Linux LPI-101 exam today, with a view to taking it before Tues=
days=20
meeting. Having told you all I will now have to pass or spontaneously=20
combust in the attempt. Hence this weekend will see me revising like mad.

I had trying to book an LPI exam ----
Booking for the exam is fairly strange as the instructions on the LPI=20
website tell you to create a login account, and then locate a test=20
centre and book your exam. I created a bookin account on their website=20
and then, after ringing 5 different centres in the area, found one that=20
answered the phone. After going through all the details I was asked for=20
my Access/Visa card number. I don't have one. I'm one of these strange pe=
ople=20
that uses Switch and cash and doesn't have a credit card. It turns out th=
e=20
centre doesn't take either (yep - not even cash).
I tried one of the other centres again and I was told I would have to rin=
g=20
VUE to book the test or there would be an admin charge of =A325.=20
I rang VUE who took all my details and then at the=20
end said they'd finished creating an account for me on the LPI site (*sig=
h*).
I pointed out I already had one and so there's now an account to delete w=
hich=20
complicates things. She then asked me for my Visa/Mastercard. (*groan*) S=
he=20
tells me I'll have to ring the centre and see if they take switch as she =
can't=20
tell from there, and they don't take it at VUE.
I then rang the testing centre back and told them everything. They said t=
hey'd=20
book it for Tuesday and ring me back to say if it'd been successfully boo=
ked.
Other things to note is that there's an LPI-101 exam that covers installi=
ng=20
from source and RPM OR you can take the LPI-101 exam that covers installi=
ng from
source or dpkg. You then have to take the LPI-102 exam to make up the ful=
l=20
LPIC level one qualification. Cost is $100 plus vat so that's about =A375=
for=20
each exam.
