oh dear, pass that reading hat, I've just realised it's Slackware not Suse 
(glows red) the title of the end of the thread being obscured by my mail 
client (insert more excuses here). ok that link would have been pretty 
useless in that case, sorry. 

It does describe bios settings to try that could be giving problems and also 
describes the key combinations that you press to bring up a text based console 
that shows all the messages the install program is giving off in the 
background that you wouldn't normally see. these might help you work out whats 
going wrong.

Failing that, what about bringing it along to the next meeting and letting the 
slackware people in the group have a look at it? (Francis?)
