Hi,

I have Mandrake 9.1 working reasonably well now and I've been looking=20
around it. I discovered a backup tool in the Control Centre,=20
configured it to use /dev/st0 and tried a small backup.

I have a SONY SDT-2000E 2GB tape drive on the SCSI A-channel - put a=20
tape in and test it with "cat /dev/st0" - the tape wakes up and reads=20
the headers as follows:-
 cat /dev/st0
TAPE 'b=BB(0^=BE Av=C4NTape created on 27/05/00Microsoft=20
Windows NT Backup (NTBACKUP.EXE) Version 1.0 Rev. 3.41

BUT when I go back to the Control centre after ..... 5 hours now it's=20
still trying to identify the device with repeated modprobes - it's=20
loaded modules:-
ide-tape 49136 0 (autoclean)
ide-floppy 15708 0 (autoclean)
ide-cd 33952 0 (autoclean)
sg 35788 0 (autoclean)
=2E....
st 30128 0
as shown by lsmod
additionaly to the existing modules

It creates a load of files with tar - first checking to see if they=20
are current etc.
and then just sits there?

any ideas?

Cheers
