[Gloucs] Install day ideas

Hey,
I was just thinking what might be useful for people coming along to the
install day is some sort of help with how to do common tasks in an open
source equivilent program. This could be in the form of a handout or
perhaps in a discussion.
All too often I've had friends dismiss other programs without thought
because it doesn't work exactly like the program they are used to. I
find this is particularly evident in students at universities. Students,
and also other people who have been trained (i.e. office workers), seem
to be thought only how to do things parrot fashion. Because of this I
would argue such institutions are in a way excluding other applications.
The idea of something like a 'how to do top 10 tasks' say in Gimp for
example would help get over the reluctance of some people who a perhaps
looking for an alternative, whatever their reasons be. It may well
already exist online in which case it would make things a bit easier.
Any feedback on the idea would be cool. Also any suggestions for
applications apart from OpenOffice and Gimp? I'm not sure about Linux
distros itself, or what you could cover.
Cheers,
Simon
