And to be totally OT, isn't it interesting to see in The Independent
this morning that Barking Boro' Council turned down an planning
application from Tescos, who are setting up local shops as part of their
chain. Explicitly on the issue of loss of diversity as local traders are
driven out of business by market failure perpetrated by the monopolists
(I use the term market failure in the economists' sense of the word).
Should demand the same for people like PC World on the basis that their
workers are generally morons who know nothing about the equipment or
software and the public is thus ill served and ripped off for what is
still considerable sums of money for equipment and proprietary s/w etc.
