[Gloucs] Re: ADSL Issues

Hi,

Firstly apologies if this has already been covered.

ADSL fault finding is my speciality, and it's worth bearing in mind that
80% of faults are down to customer install issues so before calling the
tech support line here is what i'd recommend:

1. Disconnect EVERYTHING from your line; phones, Digital tele, burglar
alarm, faxes.

2. Connect your router via a microfilter to the MASTER socket (this is the
main point of entry for BT) if you are not sure which is the master remove
the front plate and look for a capacitor in the middle of the wiring.

3. If you have a DSL or Sync light on your router this should be
illuminated, if it is not then the problem could be a) line fault, b)
router fault, c) micro filter fault. Try to eliminate each of these by
making sure you can make and recieve voice calls, try a new filter, and if
possible another router/modem.

We know your authentication details are correct so these are not the
problem. Did you recieve confirmation that your line has been activated?
This can take up to 10 working days (dispite what some ISP's will tell
you)
