[Gloucs] Compiling ffmpeg on Ubuntu

I need to recompile ffmpeg to include some proprietory codecs which will 
allow me to convert .flv files (flash video) to mpeg4. I can then play 
them on my nokia phone.

I've been following these instructions:

The 'make' after the ./configure barfs.

Has anyone followed these instructions and got it to work. I'm on Ubuntu 
8.04?
