The next GlosLUG meeting will be on Tuesday May 20th at Message Labs,
Gloucester.
This month we are looking at two devices with Linux inside.
Graham Nye will be showing and telling us about his Asus Eee PC.
The *ASUS Eee PC* is a subnotebook
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subnotebook> computer designed by ASUS
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASUS> and Intel
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel>. At the time of its introduction,
it was noted for its combination of light weight, Linux
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux>-based operating system, solid-state
drive <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid-state_drive> and relatively
low cost.
Also, Andy Cater and Brad Ackerman will be showing and telling us about
their XO Laptops from the OLPC.
The *XO-1*, previously known as the *$100 Laptop* or *Children's
Machine*, is an inexpensive laptop computer
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laptop_computer> intended to be
distributed to children in developing countries around the world,^ to
provide them with access to knowledge
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Access_to_Knowledge_movement>, and
opportunities to "explore, experiment and express themselves".
