Any Ubuntu fans know if there is an off switch yet to disable pulse
audio and switch to JACK or plain ALSA?    It seems a shame to have to
navigate the package manager and figure out which packages to remove.

Pulse Audio is great but it doesn't play nice with a minority of
software, and some people's hardware.
