hi geof the following thread may help http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1042974
but before that on the top task bar there is a small funnel type icon its small and to the right of the speaker icon right click and left click edit connections this will bring up a diologue box where yu will find mobile broadband press add and then follow instructions you will need your dial out number which is usually *99# you must put in a username and password even though you dont have any just make them up ie web and admin without those it wont work if your struggling dual boot with xp while you work things out im not one for slagging windows off and xp is ok the fact its slowed down is its probally not set right in the first place you cant leave it on defaualt settings and hope for the best linux is better mainly because of the control there are a couple of other settings you can play with pppd ppoe ppp yoou can pull them up from the command line if ive learnt anything about linux it does take usually a day or more to get things done but when you achieve the right result the feeling is worth it all and the best site on the net for linux people ishttp:www.linuxquestions .org when you get 5 mins have a browse goodluck bjorn anders seems real shame that you cant get vodafone out there and for anyone reading this vodafone on the quite make linux drivers on the source forge site under betavine as far as im aware they are the only company with the brains to support us so maybe when we have the chance we should repay that support
