Noel glad its not just me.. I have now got mandrake 10 community up &
running its doing the security update as we speak. I am after the powerpack
for the openGL drivers as I intend using the nvidia card.

Thanks for your help luckily I overwrite my 18gig drive with a completely
new version of Linux everyday I think.. once its all up & running I will
update my page.

Funny thing after I installed it I went to log onto IRC I think the program
is xchat & the message that came back was "it is stupid to logon to IRC with
root. Create a user & logon." that's a message & a half :)

Hello David,

The person you want, I think, is Box. I can let you have Mandrake 10
Community if you like.  Now, there was a glitch on those cd's and you had to
boot from disk 2 then go back to disk 1.
Go and have a look on the Mandrake site and see if there is anything there,
probably FAQ, about your problem.

"my machine is now in a state where I can't boot"   How about a quick format
to get a clean start.
