[Herefordshire] Laptop advice

Up to about £2K for a new fancy one but if there's something mid range or 
used that will do the job nicely I am not looking to spend for the sake of it
I am not fussy about old kit if it is fast enough to do its job. But old will 
be that much nearer to acting up and fading and dying so one tends to pay one 
way or another
I also wonder about the cooling of very high performance laptops
