Box,

Many thanks for your help with this. Have installed core fonts from the
CD (I see CD also has a copy of CrossoverOffice on it so will bring it back
to the 'Christmas Curry') and into the desktop display with a much better
effect though bold text components still look very blocky and moth-eaten.
Can't see any real difference with 'Anti-aliasing fonts' on or off. In
OpenOffice1.1.writer the imported fonts seem to be available but they still
display poorly with so much 'ghosting' around some characters that it
becomes pretty boring to work with for long.

Am in real need of a tutorial on how and where drivers work. In this
situation for example where is the problem?. Display under Windows 98 is
crystal clear so screen is OK, under Mandrake 10.0 (Community) Desktop sort
of Ok but with OO.o applications the display is pretty mediocre. Would
installing X.org-X11 6.7 (from the Mandrake 10.1 distro) help (and would it
run anyway under Mandrake 10.0), is there anywhere in the OO.o application
where I can tinker without doing too much damage or is it a basic problem
with the Linux Driver for my Savage graphics card.

Any ideas much appreciated. See you hopefully @ Kamal Thursday 9th.

Thanks
Chris O
