Julian,

Thanks for the reminder about the meet. I have it in my diary. My position
WRT using Linux is best describe4d as total novice. I tried Lindows, but was
always hampered with no permanently available land line to take advantage of
the click n run software downloads. I next saw a Linux for dummies in PC
World, complete with Fed Core 1 on DVD and found I could not load it without
an on board dvd drive.

So I now have a laptop as my main working machine with a win 98se partition
doingmost of the stuff I need, and FC1 installed on a partition of the same
machine. I switch it on from time to time and try to make sense of it.

I have a veiw that linux is the future of computing at the level I want to
work at (home/small business use) and wish to aquire expertise asap.

In a sense what I need is an opportunity to have someone guide me througth
the basics with my own machine.

Also I have no special commitment to any one distro, so the new Ubuntu is
very interesting.....
