Panic's over, Julian managed to sort me out :)

Silly me, I thought I still had to hand-configure my kppp settings,
when all along there was a connection setup wizard that I hadn't
noticed; it had all the settings I needed... doh!

Now I'm even more impressed with Mandrake 10.1
