David.

Apache config is very similar in Windows to that of Linux - except for
the files are in slightly different place. If you are using host
headers to give you the different sites, then you need to make changes
to /etc/httpd/httpd.conf (this is where it is on my system) - that file
will look very similar to the Windows version. The only issue I had
with my install was compiling it correctly, I still don't think I got
all the modules I wanted loading in. However, on most newer distros -
apt-get apache will get you a good apache with PHP, SSL and a few other
bits. I found the httpd.conf file very informative with comments etc -
just look for configuring virtual hosts under apache on Google and you
should come up with some step by step tutorials.

There is also a good Webmin module for Apache which lets you configure
just about anything you could possibly want.

Thanks.
Andrew.

Ok I have now come to the conclusion that microsoft are a pain in the
@rse...

Sorry just had to get that out....

As you may have gathered I had some issues with my server machine..(dont
fix what isnt broke)great motto that....

Anyway... I formatted the c drive on my win2k server machine reinstall
win2k no problem tried to install sP4 corrupt file.... ok I thought I
will just install a firewall & download SP4... no firewall software.. 5
times I ended up formatting & reinstalling the os before I managed to
download a firewall & SP4..

Ok... where is this going. I run 4 websites on my server machine 1 of
these has a forum for the counterstrike clan im in. I've had it with
windows & want to put it on my Linux machine but don't really have any
idea how to setup 4 apache servers... (quite easy in windows.)

1.Things I am worried about I have broadband 1m - using Alcatel usb
modem fish thing... when I tried the live version of SUSE9.2 It wouldn't
let me do the equivalent of DUN... Is this easy to setup????

2. If It Is quite easy can I make the machine a gateway like my server
machine at the moment..( I assume I will have to edit some file to make
my machine have my gateway IP ADDRESS???

3. I love computers....

P.S thanks everyone who replied to my last query regarding installing my
new drive.... After taking out the drive & running in failsafe mode.
Linux asked to I want to remove the drive usr to which I said yes.. I
removed the link & then fixed its self.....

Thanks again

Dave
