Hi all
blender is tricky to get used to. Its actually been around quite a few years now but the interface puts many off. I have only really played with it not used it properly.
Now that i have a three month old i have been using fspot - a really nice photo album program very cool and as good as anything on windows or mac

hello....anyone there? :-)
been pretty quiet on the mailing list recently, is everyone getting
ready for christmas?
i'm still trying to get my head around blender. i'm making some slow
and painful progress, it's not the most intuitive program that i've
ever used. normally i learn how to use programs by clicking things
until i figure it out, but with blender i'm actually having to
patiently work my way through the manual page by page. not something i
do unless i have to.
i tried downloading the blender source code and compiling it from
scratch, but i didn't have much luck with that either. my previous
experience with compiling programs hasn't extended far beyond
configure, make and make install.
on a more positive note i've been having a lot of success with qcad.
i've been using it to design some pattern development work for sheet
metal. there are a few glitches in the program, but it isn't the most
recent version. at some point i might try compiling that too.
see you all next thursday.
