I am running Fedora Core 3 and find mounting and unmounting floppys is
inconsistent. Has anyone experienced a similar situation or have a hint
on how to investigate.
If I start from a clean system after a reboot (a technique from
Windows), I can use the file browser icon that allows me to mount and
unmount devices. I can also use mount and umount in a terminal. The
problem seems to occur after having used Open Office. I find I get into
a state where the browser shows a mount option but this fails as it
thinks the floppy is already mounted or busy, but it is not. Trying
mount in the terminal window gives the same result. I do not have an
option to unmount in the browser and if I try to umount in the terminal
window I get "/dev/fd0 is not mounted (according to mtab)". Catch 22!
Gordon.
