hi ben, thanks for the advice.

the on board sound card isn't a worry. i'll be using a pci soundcard.
your comment about the fans is more of a worry. if it is a problem
then i could replace the fan with a coolermaster copper finned thing i
bought for my existing pc (it came with a range of mounting plates,
one of which is for a 939 chip). the only problem with that would be
that it's a pretty big. it might be worth my while looking at how much
space these motherboards have around the processor.

that's something for me to take into account.
