I've tried shrinking the dialog but without success so you'll have to
move it or get more screen space.

Did you set your screen resolution?  On my gnome menu it is
'Applications->Desktop Preferences->Screen Resolution'. I imagine a
1024x768 desktop could fit the whole gimp print dialog.
