[HLUG] Last pieces of the DotProject puzzle

Hi, glad to report I'm closer than ever to getting DotProject running
on my Ubuntu box. Apache2 and php seem to be running fine. mysqld
appears to be running correctly at this point, at least according to
webmin. As per instructions, I point my browser at the /install folder
of the DotProject hive of php files, which wakes up the (promising
looking) pre-install check page nicely. However, proceeding on to the
'recommended install' button gives a consistent moan that there's no
mysql database to connect to, although the config file is reported to
have been created ok.

Should I have created a specific blank mysql database to connect to
beforehand? Anyone been here before?

(DotProject is ace for project management, we use it a hell of a lot at
work.) When's it my turn?!!
