Further to

those of us involved in corporate/financial IT putting this idea into 
practice? Almost without exception, spreadsheets and accounting systems 
are optimised to maximise profits, generally at the expense of the 
well-being and sustainability of people and planet.

Gross National Happiness is basically another column in a spreadsheet 
that measures how happy people may be under certain circumstances. If 
this were treated as seriously as shareholder returns, I wonder how 
different the world could be?
