[HLUG] Cant login with Ubuntu 6.06

Ok guys im so pleased with myself as i couldnt log in i guessed it had 
something to do with permissions and so Crtl-Alt-F1 and sudo chmod 775ed 
a few folders and bag it worked!!!
Now all i need to do is get my wifi to work and im away
