hello everyone,
i have been getting seriously into inkscape, what a fantastic program.
to me scalable vector graphics are one of the greatest ideas ever.
paths and nodes are such a beautiful way of working, they are a bit
strange at first but definitely worth it. i love the fact that svgs
are infinitely scalable to, no more worrying about an images
resolution, just make the picture and then decide what image size to
export it to afterwards.
i'm still a big fan of the gimp, but now i'm just using to prepare
images for inkscape to turn into svgs. i'm particularly keen on
turning artwork from comics into svg, they work very well. one of my
favorite graphic novels is "sin city" and the images in that are
almost designed to be svg. no shading or midtones, just pure black and
white.
i'm very interested to see what kind of art people can produced with
svgs. i've done a bit of googling, but haven't come up with anything
particularly interesting yet. i'll have a look at the inkscape website
and see if they have any links.
john michaelson.
