[HLUG] how do I uninstall

Without wishing to start a flame war re the benefits of each Linux
Distro, thsi is exactly why the distros that use deb packages work so
well, ie Debian, Ubuntu, Xandros, etc. Libraries are always installed
cleanly and can remove similarly too.
Also, as there are about 16000 packages in Ubuntu's repositories, there
is usually a package for software that you require.
