Pidgeon is good, has a neat interface and supports AIM, Yahoo etc as 
well as MSN.  But it does not have any webcam support which may be an 
issue depending on whether they want that functionality.

You could install both and let then choose.

BTW, I tried the current Windows version of Pidgeon on Vista and it 
keeps crashing after a couple of hours.
