Given that Ubuntu is polished subset of Debian (my opinion) then you
should be able to use the "Debian way" of cross compiling.  There is a
simple tutorial given on the Debian website at
http://wiki.debian.org/BuildingCrossCompilers that guides you through
building the cross compiler and support libraries for it.
