[HLUG] hard disc shredder

Does anyone know how I could scrub a hard drive of all old sensitive
data? Do any Linux live CDs have a program on that would do this well? I
can find dozens of programs that should run under W but would rather go
with something someone has used. Also I can afford to scrub the whole
drive as I want to try some Linux distros for the older smaller PC
afterwards.
