[HLUG] Thunderbird address books

Hi all,

Any Thunderbird experts there?

A friend is using Thunderbird to manage email for several different
accounts which are for different clients. He is using the facility to
collect email addresses of everyone he emails to the address book, and
needs to keep these client lists separate. However Thunderbird does not
seem to have any options for setting which address book contacts are
added to on a per-account basis. You can only set it up in Options and
choose an address book that they all go into.

We will probably have to set up different profiles for each client but
that is a bit of a pain as he will have to keep closing and reopening
Thunderbird to switch between profiles.

Does anyone know if it is possible to have the collected addresses
sorted automatically depending on which email account they come in
through? Manual dragging/dropping to the right place is not an option.

Failing that is there another good free (open source) email client for
Windows (Vista) that will work how he wants and will support IMAP and
POP3 email?

Ohh, and before someone suggests it (as seems to happen whenever email
is discussed), Google Mail is NOT AN OPTION.

Thanks!
Paul

PS - it is looking like I may not be able to attend the meeting tonight
now as some urgent work issues have cropped up :(
