[HLUG] kdenlive - jaunty

do you recomend upgrading to jaunty alpha before installing kdenlive?

and is there a way to move my home data folders to their own partition 
before i do it?

and would all my programs and preferences be ported over to the new version?

System/About Ubuntu  mentions 8.04, so maybe i have that version installed,
i cant find a menu to tell me which version i have..

did a restart, it didnt tell me which version of ubuntu i have installed...
