Hi
I've recently switched to using 64 bit Ubuntu Lucid Lynx at work and at
home. I'm not sure if the differences are that great, but obviously its
more noticeable when you're doing something quite CPU intensive, like
installing or rendering video.
One thing I have noticed is that the version of Flash bundled with
Ubuntu Lucid, is that they ae still using the 32 bit one with various
compatibility libraries. It works, but I certianly noticed
issues/crashes and slowness compared to running std 32 bit only linux.
However a recent poll in the Ubuntuu forums came out 95% in favour of
shipping the Adobe 64 bit version instead. So why aren't Ubuntu using it
? Well its still official an Alpha, with some issues, but it seems that
the issues in running the 32 bit version instead are actually greater.
Does anyone else use 64 bit Linux? And what have you found with it? Does
it suit your needs or is it still a bit immature for full everyday usage?
Julian
