Hi Sarah, yes the eeepc models require you to press escape, I don't think you can set it to boot from an external divice by default, unless you always leave it plugged in e.g. on an SD card.

yes that's what i use

just a note that with my eee - you have to press esc at the bios screen
to get to 'choose hdd or usb boot' - going in via F2 will not make it
boot from usb
I always forget this and spend 10 minutes wondering why it doesn't boot
