[HLUG] Tuxdedu 2.0

Hi Guys, I have uploaded a slightly modified version of Tuxedu to here: http://tuxedu.org.uk/iso/ - this has scratch installed (but with no sound - requires pulseaudio, and this needs testing) and a fixed launcher for pysycache - i still haven't found a way to lock down the hard drive ( removing rights to mount FUSE filesystems didn't work) so if anyone has any bright ideas let me know (e.g. isolinux arguments or fstab tricks) - I can of course just block access to the file manager but this is a bit drastic.

So there are three things to do:

Stop read/write access to internal hard drives

Get Scratch working with Alsa, or installing Pulseaudio

Improving performance by stopping unnecessary processes from running at boot.

I would appreciate any other feedback on the programs themselves - getting children to test them would be good...

just got back in - lots of talk in the carpark afterwards as well!

yes will do Julian -

hopefully one of the barriers to the success of our schools project has
been overcome as the council ICT consultants are going to talk to the
schools & arrange a meeting with Tony & Kevin & the techs responsible
for the networks in the participating schools so we can liase with them
and explain about Tuxedu. The support of the ICT consultants will also
encourage the schools to fully commit to the project.
Everyone please keep testing tuxedu for Tony (second version is now
ready for testing - please confirm the location Tony) and give him
plenty of feedback - we do need to be sure there are no bugs.
