This is exactly the same way that I make the USB pendrive versions - unetbootin is available in the ubuntu package repository as well so it can be installed using the ubuntu software centre or just running: sudo apt-get install unetbootin - I think you also need to install a package called extlinux as a dependency for full functionality.

If it helps I just made one using http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ and the
downloaded tuxedo.iso from http://tuxedu.org.uk/downloads/ and a USB memory
stick.
