Nvda is the best option for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 have built in magnification (and very limited speech support) - the only other option is to use Vinux a Linux based operating system for VI users - it provides a screenreader, screen magnifier and Braille support out of the box, comes with office software, is virus proof and is completely free.

Subject: [HLUG] Poor sighters- Screen Readers/ Magnifiers
Hi All
Has anyone any knowledge of free screen readers and or magnifiers? Ime tangling with NVDA for sound which might be useable .But Virtual Magnifying Glass 3.5 is the only free one ive seen and doesnt seem up to much.
Commercial software to do it is around £700 n more
