Hi HLUG

Just checking my emails I was under the impression that the meeting was the last Wednesday of every month, so I put in my calendar the meeting next week the 31st and not last night. My fault for not checking the emails from herefordshire at mailman.lug.org.uk.

Is it the last Wednesday of every month or does it very?

I will ensure I check well in advance for next month.

Thank you
Steve

Hi

Thanks to everyone who turned up to the meeting last night. We had twelve come along which is pretty healthy for us.

All comments made about the new website so far seem very sensible to me.

Just to recap for anyone interested who couldn't make it.

1) We decided on using WordPress for the updated of the HLUG site. Kevin has already created a virtual machine to house the site and any other applications we require. A number of people indicated they would be happy to created content and/or administer the site - the more the better, so one individual doesn't get bogged down with it.
If anyone's else is interested in helping please let us know.

2) There was general agreement that we need to make more and better/up to date content available on the site. It was broadly agreed that we should investigate using a forum built in to the site so that we can still communicate via the forum, (with email alerts if required), but keeping the threads far more accessible than the existing mailing list, and also creating good content for the site itself.

3) We also decided that as it was excellent on the last 2 occasions that we will return to the Ponte Vecchio http://www.pontevecchiohereford.co.uk(Italian Restaurant in Hereford) for our Christmas meal on a date TBA in December.

4) Last, but not least, we spoke further about presentations that could be made to the group using the training room at Hampton Court http://www.hamptoncourt.org.uk in between Leominster and Hereford, free of charge. P{eter Oakes has volunteered to bring us a presentation but cant make it in November, so its a little tight unless we can schedule this for early in December. We also have another offer for a presentation on Blender, the immense 3D Modelling, gaming and animation tool - one to look forward to.

Sorry I didn't get chance to say hello properly to the two new members of the group .. thanks for coming ..

Cheers

Julian

Hi,

It was good to meet you all.

Twas I that offered the presentation on blender's little known ability as a Video editor (more stable than Kdenlive). If anyone would find it of interest I would be glad to do so.

I would be happy to help with the design of the site in terms of its look if needed.

Smiles,
Charlie.
