[HLUG] File conversion.

I wish to convert several postscript (.ps) and PDF  files to .jpg
form in order that I can use them as .ppt slides in an Open Office 
"impress" program.  (Similar to power point.)

What is the best means of conversion which does not involve external
firms.  I am using Debian Wheezy, but I have not been able to install
anything like  ps2jpg  or pdf2jpg  (or whatever it may be called.)

Please has anyone tried this ?
