Hi all

Hope you've all had a  good Bank Holiday weekend.

Bit of info you might find handy sometime.

If, like me, you've used the FreeOTP app on your phone to work with OTP

codes you might find that there is no means to export/import them to a
new

phone.

There is a newer FreeOTP+ Android app that will export and import keys
but

of course this is only useful if your keys are on this app in the first

place :-)

Instead if you're using the original FreeOTP app (now discontinued)  you

can by way of a little python script get your OTP codes onto a URI
format

which you can then as text files import to the new version of the app on

your new phone ie

https://github.com/minus7/freeotp-export
<https://github.com/minus7/freeotp-export>

It sounds tricky but as long as you have adb installed and working

beforehand it's pretty straight forward. The first time I ran the python

script it stopped with an error, but funnily enough the second time it

produced URI outputs of each key. I simply copied each of these as a
text

file, into Internal shared memory on my new phone. Then ran Import from
URI

on the new FreeOTP+ app.

Each imported perfectly even with the little icon that each uses.

Hope this is useful to someone ..

Thanks

Julian

PS Hoping to clarify whether we will be having a BBQ at Georges place on

Weds or just going to the Courtyard. I'm just waiting for George to get

back to me on that.
