[Herts] Newbie help with Aspire One

Hi List,
 
I have got myself into a real fix with my new Aspire One and have messed up the operating system big time!
 
I think the only solution is to reinstall Linpus so I downloaded the image and have written it to a 4GB USB drive. BUT - the Aspire won't boot from it. So now I don't know what to do.
 
Any help gratefully received.
