I've been using apt-rpm for 3weeks now and find it really useful. The
problem you will encounter is the lack of up to date repositories. Its
not that people who maintain these lag massively behind, its just where
security is an issue. For example, the recent problems with openSSH were
not solved by running "upgrade" or install, but rather by me doing
things by hand.
