Howdy all,
Please forgive me for not having been active on this list, I've had quite
a busy time recently. However, I hope to have a little time today and,
after the weekend, should have much more time to give to Infopoint.
I think Kat's suggestion of an email to the BBC is great. However, I think
we should turn this into something of a more coordinated mini-campaign.
Clearly the Beeb get loads of emails, each day, about various special
interest subjects that they don't really understand. So, we need to make
an impact, without gimmicks.
Here's what I propose:
- Personal emails, similar to Kat's, sent to local BBC radio stations and
"where I live" websites, where Infopoints are held
- One or two personal emails sent to BBC News Online, perhaps targetting
specific BBC reporters
- a project press release, sent to BBC offices local to Infopoints and to
News Online.
I think that, in this case, personal emails can be very powerful. The BBC
is more likely to take interest in an issue, if it feels its audience is
also interested. The Infopoint press release will help to back up the
message and give some weight, to provide the "official" POV.
Any thoughts on this?
