Mandrake 10.1 real (not Community) gets my vote. Loads easily from a 
DVD. Detects all your bits providing they are connected and switched on. 
Dead easy to configure with the gui tools made available. It works for 
me and I am not really a specialist and I'm well over 60.
And I don't work or them either.
