Very well said

I have very much the same opinion as far as server environments are 
concerned, it is very important to have stability (don't forget your 
apt/yum updates for security) but in a desktop system which will (in 
most instances) only be running as and when required then the entire 
philosophy is different. For instance out of the box readiness is 
important, desktop human interface, and pick up and playability.
