[Klug-general] usb soundcards

Hi all,
is anyone using a usb soundcard in linux?

Are they generic in design, like usb mice and keyboards, so if the kernel 
supports one it should support them all?

The reason I ask is that i'm thinking about those usb dongles that you plug 
your home phone into and connect to your pc. I believe these are just 
soundcards.
