Hi,
The card appears to be ATI technologies Inc Rage AGP 2X and driver is
ati
At boot time the process starts as normal to the point of " loading
now.." at which point instead of the ubuntu splash screen all is
darkness. Nine times out of ten there is a quite long wait after which
the light on the floppy drive flashes and the ubuntu login appears.
However occasionally it boots to root command line without asking for
a password. Pressing restart usually sends it down the first route
again to end up at the ubuntu login. I am wondering if the system has
been infiltrated.
