Just to shift this back on topic. There are a few questions I have about
dells plans to ship Ubuntu.

1) Will restricted driver support be enabled as per default for all
required hardware (wifi, nvidia etc...)

2) Will they be using DKMS to support, which is a brilliant dell
developed kernel module driver management system?

3) Will compiz/beryl be pre-configured on these systems?

4) What security options will they provide as per default, antivirus (I
know its not a necessity but it should be bundled in there), and
firewall configuration tools.

5) Will they be shipping it with wine or crossover or cedega? This I
think is the most interesting point to consider as crossover would fix a
number of headaches for enterprise users.

6) Will they be shipping some form of DRM beating media player
integration for Zune/Creative Zen etc... which will allow DRM tracks to
be played in Linux

These 6 points are hurdles that Dell have to get over in order to
actively promote linux to their user base. Some of them are easy, some
of them are hard. All in all its a cool development, but lets just hope
they don't back out of it within a year like they did with redhat in
2000.

K,
