So many places to begin. Not all linux specific but I recommend you take
a look at:

Computer Networks 4th Edition - Andrew Tanenbaum
Modern Operating Systems - Andrew Tanenbaum
The Debian System - Martyn Kraft
Linux in a Nutshell - O'reilly
The linux source - mainly for masochists.
TCP/IP network Admin - Another O'Reilly

Those should get you started, give us a shout if you want some more
